Graceway Communities and Ministry of Health Promote Healthier Living at Caribbean Wellness Health Fair

Graceway Communities, the charitable arm of Graceway Supermarkets, collaborated with the Ministry of Health and Human Services for the Caribbean Wellness Health Fair on September 18 at Graceway IGA, Leeward Highway.
Held as part of Caribbean Wellness Week, the Fair brought health screenings, education, nutrition and physical activity directly to the community, encouraging attendees to learn more about their health and make healthier lifestyle choices.
Health & Wellness in Action
22 Health Screenings
The Health Promotion and Advocacy Unit within the Ministry of Health and Human Services screened 22 individuals for blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and weight, as well as STI testing.
15 additional individuals received health education and informational materials.
13 Blood Groupings
The Turks and Caicos Islands National Blood Bank completed 13 blood groupings, with 3 individuals registering as blood donors during the Fair.
13 Fitness Participants
Janelle Ambrister and Let’s Move TCI led fitness activities with 13 participants, promoting movement and active lifestyles.
Cooking demonstrations also provided 20 samples to encourage healthier food choices.
Healthy Choices & Community Engagement
Local businesses Alkalight Nutrition and Island Sprout joined the Fair, providing samples and educating attendees about healthier food and lifestyle choices.
Graceway Communities hosted a hydration and juicing station, offering water, fresh juice samples and healthy refreshments throughout the event.

The Caribbean Wellness Health Fair brought together the Ministry of Health and Human Services – Health Promotion and Advocacy Unit, TCI Dental Department, Department of Behavioural Health Services, Turks and Caicos Islands National Blood Bank, Let’s Move TCI, Alkalight Nutrition, Island Sprout, Janelle Ambrister, and the Graceway Communities volunteer team.
Together, participants provided health services, information, education and practical opportunities for community members to take steps toward healthier living.
